4 slices thick-cut bacon
1 (24 ounce) jar tomato and basil pasta sauce (such as Classico®)
1 lemon, juiced

Directions

  1. Place bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Drain the bacon slices on paper towels and crumble.

  2. Combine pasta sauce and lemon juice together in a saucepan over medium-low heat, simmer, stirring occasionally, until sauce is reduced by half, about 45 minutes. Stir bacon into reduced tomato sauce.

Recipe Note

I have made many variations of this over the years, only not with pasta sauce before. This recipe has evolved from a recipe I found on AR for tomato gravy. I have discovered that using the pasta sauce as the base instead of using tomato sauce and canned tomatoes makes this much less time consuming too.
