½ cup butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
¾ teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground allspice
⅔ cup buttermilk
1 ½ cups rolled oats
½ cup chopped walnuts
1 cup raisins

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.

  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg. Combine the flour, baking soda, nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice, stir into the sugar mixture alternately with the buttermilk. Mix in the oats, walnuts and raisins. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheet.

  3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
