7 ounces brown sugar
½ red onion, finely chopped
¼ cup honey
3 ½ fluid ounces red wine vinegar
2 ounces butter
½ small red chile pepper, finely chopped, or to taste
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
½ teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Directions

  1. Combine ketchup, brown sugar, red onion, honey, vinegar, butter, red chile pepper, garlic, cayenne pepper, paprika, salt, and black pepper in a saucepan, bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until sauce is slightly thickened, about 20 minutes. Blend with a hand blender until smooth.
