2 yellow onions, quartered
2 (4 ounce) links chorizo sausage, casings removed
1 green bell pepper, quartered and seeded
6 cloves clove garlic
1 pound lean ground beef
1 pound ground pork
1 cup Italian-style bread crumbs
2 eggs, beaten
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 dash ground cumin
sea salt to taste
freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon vegetable oil, or as needed
12 hamburger buns, split
1 (9 ounce) can shoestring potatoes (such as Pik-Nik®)

Directions

  1. Place yellow onions, chorizo, green bell pepper, and garlic in a food processor, pulse until minced.

  2. Transfer onion mixture to a large bowl. Add ground beef, ground pork, bread crumbs, eggs, ketchup, cumin, salt, and black pepper, mix with your hands until well-blended.

  3. Form mixture into 12 patties.

  4. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook patties in batches until browned and medium well done, about 5 minutes per side.

  5. Serve cooked patties on hamburger buns topped with shoestring potatoes.
