½ cup ketchup
½ cup packed brown sugar
1 ½ pounds ground beef
¾ cup crushed unsalted saltine crackers
2 eggs
¾ medium onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced, or more to taste
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
6 slices bacon

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a loaf pan with cooking spray.

  2. Spread ketchup over the bottom of the loaf pan, spread brown sugar over the ketchup.

  3. Combine ground beef, crackers, eggs, onion, garlic, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Form mixture into a loaf and place in the prepared pan. Lay bacon strips on top in a lattice or other pattern.

  4. Bake in the preheated oven until juices run clear and bacon is cooked, about 1 hour.
